Frequency inverters are electronic devices that are installed into products operated by an electric motor, such as an in-home passenger lift. The inverter allows a user to control the speed and direction of an electric motor.

Affected inverters may be used in particular lifts supplied by The Residential Lift Company and Velocity Home Lifts.

This recall only involves frequency inverters with Firmware 17 installed.

Firmware versions other than version 17 are not affected and no action is required for these devices.

The affected frequency inverters are also used in industrial and commercial lifting and hoisting applications - see the attached industrial/commercial recall advertisement.

Reasons the product is recalled

In-home passenger lifts using frequency inverters that have Firmware 17 installed may exhibit unexpected behaviour during operation.

The hazards to consumers

The equipment fitted with the affected inverter can become jerky, sag or fall uncontrollably when in use, which may result in serious injury.

What consumers should do

Stop using the affected equipment immediately and contact SEW Eurodrive on 1300 739 827 and ask for MOVITRAC® B product recall, or email MovitracBrecall@sew-eurodrive.com.au

A technician or representative will visit your home to replace or reload the inverter with Firmware version 16.
