Reason the product is recalled

The product contains a concentration of carbamide peroxide in excess of the recognised safe limit of 18% w/w as set by the Poisons Standard 2011, by expert clinical advice, and in published scientific risk assessments.

The hazards to consumers

The high concentration of carbamide peroxide used in this product can result in injuries such as chemical burns to gums and the mouth. Other potential injuries include blistering or ulceration of the mouth and throat, tooth sensitivity, marbled or unnaturally coloured teeth, tingling around the mouth and headaches.

What consumers should do

Customers should refrain from using the 22% carbamide peroxide gel and return all unused gel by post or in person to Ozbrite Pty Ltd at 420 Victoria St, Brunswick 3056. All returned gel should be accompanied by the name, address and contact details of the person returning the product.

All returned products will be exchanged with new, compliant and safer 16% carbamide peroxide teeth whitening gel.
