Reason the product is recalled

The AC power adapters could break apart exposing the metal prongs.

The hazards to consumers

If the exposed metal prongs are touched when the adapters are plugged into an electrical wall outlet, this could cause an electric shock or serious injury.

What consumers should do

Tandem Diabetes Care has now implemented a change in the manufacturing process to prevent the issue from recurring. New enhanced adapters are currently en route to Australia and are due to arrive late November 2019.

Consumers are advised to maintain care in handling your existing adapters pending receipt of enhanced replacement adapters. Always switch off the power socket before attempting to remove the adapter. It is vital that you do not touch any exposed metal prongs while the power socket is live.

AMSL Diabetes will post out replacement adapters to consumers preferred delivery address beginning of December 2019. On receipt of the replacement adapters, AMSL ask that you immediately discard the original three (3) power adapters that you received with your pump or accessory kit.
