Reason the product is recalled
The clamp that holds the steer tube in place may break when over-tightened, due to uncontrolled die temperature of the aluminium during the manufacturing process.
The hazards to consumers
If the steer tube clamp breaks, the handlebars may come off the bicycle, which may result in a fall or injury to the child.
What consumers should do
Consumers with affected Trek model bicycles should immediately stop using their bicycles and take them to a Trek retailer for inspection and repair. Affected bicycles will be fitted with replacement clamps that hold both the steer tube and seat post (the clamps are interchangeable).
