The sunglasses are labelled as Category 2 sunglasses but were incorrectly installed with category 4 lenses. Also the transmitance difference between corresponding points in each lens is greater than permitted by the mandatory Australian safety standard for sunglasses & fashion spectacles.

The defects may affect the user's ability to judge the distance of objects, particularly moving objects. This has driving safety implications and may result in blurred vision and headaches.
