Reasons the product is recalled
Airbag inflator: As it gets older, a combination of high temperatures and humidity can cause the airbag inflator propellant to degrade. If an affected vehicle is involved in a collision triggering the airbag, the metal inflator housing may explode/rupture under too much internal pressure.
The hazards to consumers
In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could possibly shoot out, straight through the airbag cushion material towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.
What consumers should do
Owners of affected vehicles should contact their local Skoda dealership, phone the toll-free Skoda Recall Campaign Hotline on 1800 504 076, between 8.30am and 8pm Monday to Friday (AEST) or visit or visit the Skoda website at https://au.skoda.com.au/airbag-safety-recall/
