Reason the product is recalled

The barrel nut may not have been tightened sufficiently to meet the torque specifications.

The hazards to consumers

The use of a rifle with a barrel nut that is not properly tightened to meet manufacturing specifications for torque may lead to a failure in a discharge situation. This could result in personal injury.

What consumers should do

Consumers who are in possession of a Vanguard® rifle should either visit the recall website at www.regcen.com\vanguard or call 1800 017 573 to determine if their rifles are being recalled. If the consumer’s rifle is being recalled, he or she should stop using the rifle immediately. The consumer should follow the instructions provided by the website or by Nioa, the Australian distributor. The consumer should take the rifle to the place of purchase so that it can either be repaired or replaced. Nioa is the only entity that is qualified to inspect and repair or replace the rifles. Consumers should not attempt to repair their rifles themselves. Consumers should not rely upon the advice of their dealers to determine whether the rifle needs to be repaired.
