Reasons the product is recalled
On certain affected vehicles, the instrument cluster may display the gearbox position “P” even though the gearbox is not mechanically engaged in the park position.
The hazards to consumers
In some circumstances, this misleading display may result in the vehicle unexpectedly rolling away, which could lead to injury or even death.
What consumers should do
Letters will be sent to all known registered owners of an affected vehicle. This letter urges the owners to immediately contact their authorized BRP dealer in order to have the vehicle repaired. The solution for those vehicles is for dealers to perform a gearbox position learning and this repair should take approximately half an hour to complete.
