Reasons the product is recalled

When the vehicle is driven through water (minimum of 310 mm, 12 inches deep) containing a significant quantity of floating debris such as grass, hay and leaves, debris may accumulate in a short period of time in the exhaust area.

The hazards to consumers

Accumulated debris could lead to a vehicle fire when the exhaust pipe is hot and the debris is dry. In some situations, this could result in serious property damage, injuries or even death.

What consumers should do

If consumers do NOT ride in the above described specific terrains and conditions, they may continue to use their vehicles in a normal way. Consumers should refer to the “Cleaning Procedure of Exhaust Area” in the Addendum to the Operator’s Guide, however, and follow the recommended cleaning schedule. The recall letter and the Addendum should be stored in the vehicle so they remain handy.

If it is possible that the vehicle will be ridden in the conditions described above, consumers should have their vehicles updated with a Front Grill Kit as soon as possible. The Front Grill Kit will be available at no cost from December 5, 2012. Consumers should contact an authorized dealer to have the vehicle updated.
