Mavic R-Sys wheel is an aluminium ribbed road riding wheel, distinctive in its look as it has 5mm thick hollow black carbon fibre spokes. The wheel has been on sale in Australia since October 2007. It has been sold through bicycle retailers Australia wide, both as an aftermarket accessory as well as being supplied on some new high end bicycles.
Reasons the product is recalled
The carbon tubular spokes of the R-Sys front wheel may break during use in certain circumstances causing the rider to lose control and possibly fall, potentially sustaining injury.

What consumers should do
Stop using the wheel and immediately return the front wheel to a Mavic dealer; a new upgraded R-Sys Front wheel will be delivered free of charge. This exchange will start from 31 March 2009. Until this date, to facilitate the continued use of your bicycle, Mavic will offer you a set of Aksium wheels that you will keep after you have received the replacement R-Sys front wheel.
