The revised version of the voluntary Children’s Nightwear Standard (AS/NZS 1249) has been released as a draft for public comment. Public consultation meetings are planned for Sydney (26 July 2013) and Melbourne (31 July 2013).
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is urging parents and carers to be aware of the risks that coin-sized batteries pose to children if swallowed and to take precautions to keep them out of young hands.
