This World Children’s Day, we urge parents and loved ones buying toys online to check that they’re safe and to report any product safety issues, as part of an international campaign on the safety of toys sold online.
The Assistant Treasurer, Michael Sukkar, has issued a Safety Warning Notice warning consumers about the serious risk of injury or death involved in the use of the children’s nightwear item ‘Monster High Ghouls nightie’.
This ban applies to toys, childcare articles, eating vessels and utensils intended for children up to and including 36 months of age that they can readily chew and/or suck. Items containing more than 1 per cent by weight of diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) are banned. Risk: reproductive toxicity for children.
If you are a manufacturer, importer, wholesaler or retailer of baby and nursery products supplied to Australia (online or shop front) you must comply with the applicable Australian mandatory safety standards.
