280 showbags pass WA Consumer Protection product safety tests & no poisonous elements detected in toys sent for lab testing

Ahead of this year’s Royal Show, the Product Safety team from Consumer and Business Services has inspected the 1350 toys and novelty items that will be in this year’s showbags, to ensure compliance with mandatory safety standards.

NSW Fair Trading reported that two variety stores, Hot Price Pty Ltd trading as Kia Variety at Blacktown and Changyu Enterprise Pty Ltd trading as PTK Variety at St Marys, have been ordered to pay $8,550 and $1,142 respectively in fines and costs by Parramatta Local Court for supplying unsafe products.

NSW Fair Trading reported that Eastwood retailers Pius Freddy Hiu and Kate Hiu, trading as P K Pacific Ocean, pleaded guilty on 4 May in Parramatta Local Court to two counts each of breaching the Australian Consumer Law (NSW) for supplying toys that could choke children.

New South Wales Fair Trading reported that TRS Trading Group Pty Ltd, trading as The Reject Shop Discount Variety Store, has been ordered by Parramatta Local Court to pay fines and costs of $2,121 for supplying a child’s xylophone toy that could choke a child.
