This proposed compulsory recall notice, if issued in the same terms following consultation, would place obligations on LG Energy Solution Ltd and LG Energy Solution Australia Pty Ltd (collectively LG) to undertake a range of actions which are intended to effectively locate and remedy LG home energy storage system batteries which are at risk of overheating (affected LG batteries).
The affected LG batteries have caused incidents that have led to significant property damage and are currently subject to voluntary recalls in Australia. You can find out more information about the:

The notice invites suppliers of the affected LG batteries to notify the ACCC by 14 February 2024 if they wish to have a conference with the ACCC to make submissions on the notice. If requested, the conference will be held on 20 February 2024. As soon as practicable after the conference, the ACCC will make a recommendation to the Assistant Treasurer on whether or not to issue the compulsory recall.
