Reason the product is recalled
Tests on a batch of the product indicated that it contained the bacteria culture, "burkeholderia cepacia".
The hazards to consumers
The bacteria could be of concern for persons with lung problems or who have an immunity deficiency, for example, people with cystic fibrosis and HIV, as the bacteria can cause pneumonia.
What consumers should do
Discontinue using the contaminated product immediately.
Australian Hearing has issued letters to clients who have potentially been supplied with this product. Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.
