Reason the product is recalled

A manufacturing problem may cause the battery packs to short-circuit, causing them to overheat, release smoke, damage the notebook computer, and possibly catch fire.

The hazards to consumers

Fire.

What consumers should do

Discontinue use of the recalled batteries and please contact Compaq immediately to receive two free replacement batteries, either via telephone on 1300 368 369 or registering on the website: http://www.compaq.com/products/notebooks/batteryrecall
