Reasons the product is recalled
The nuts on the gearcase and the exhaust housing extension (if applicable), may become loose, allowing the gearcase assembly to detach from the outboard engine.
The hazards to consumers
This may initiate an abrupt change in direction and loss of steering, which could cause serious injury or even death.
What consumers should do
Consumers should contact their nearest Evinrude/Johnson dealer and make an appointment to have their Evinrude® E-TEC® G2 150-300 HP outboard models serviced.
