Component failure in a small number of consoles has caused burning inside the console or melting of the power cord when it connects to the console. Fewer than one in 10,000 consoles have malfunctioned.

Check manufacture date on bottom of console. If manufactured before 23/10/2003 go to www.xbox.com click on power cord replacement for Xbox to get a free replacement cord.
