What are the defects?
The seat belts can not effectively prevent injury in a car accident.
What are the hazards?
In the event that the seat belts are in use during a car accident, they are unable to effectively protect occupants of the vehicle. Use of the seat belts may result in serious injury or death to occupants of the vehicle.
What should consumers do?
It is recommended that if BVL seat belts are fitted in the vehicle's driver seat, consumers do not use their vehicle until replacements are fitted. If fitted in other seating positions, passengers should not use those seats.
