Reason the product is recalled
The battery compartment on the thermometer is not adequately secured, allowing access to the button batteries inside.
The hazards to consumers
If young children gain access to the button batteries and ingest them, they may suffer internal burn injuries, which can result in serious illness and even death or permanent injury. In addition, the batteries may pose a choking hazard to young children.
What consumers should do
Consumers who own RiteAid Mini Digital Temple Touch thermometers should check the base of the thermometer for the lot number 5216. If the thermometer is from Lot 5216, consumers should stop using the thermometer immediately and return it to the below reply-paid address for an exchange.
