Reason the product is recalled

Affected products have a very high and unusual tendency towards oxidation in marine environments.

The hazards to consumers

Highly corroded anchors may fail and although there is redundancy in climbing anchor systems, injury may occur.

What consumers should do

Intertrek advises customers and consumers to inspect any product not yet installed for the affected batch number and to return affected product for a full refund or replacement with non-affected product.

For any anchors already installed, it is very difficult to ascertain the batch number and so Intertrek advises end users to inspect anchors for any signs of rust or corrosion before use.
