The retaining ring is a circular plastic ring that is threaded and screwed onto the regulator apparatus. It allows the diver to breathe underwater using supplied air (SCUBA).

Reason the product is recalled
The purge assembly on the diving mask can disengage from the regulator, resulting in loss of air to the diver.
The hazards to consumers
Loss of air to the diver poses a drowning hazard.
What consumers should do
