Reason the product is recalled
In some cases there may be a malfunction of the electronics. If the malfunction occurs, the engine may operate at a faster speed and/or the blades may continue to move for a short time after the trigger is released. Under certain circumstances, the machine may start to operate when only one trigger switch is pressed.
The hazards to consumers
If the defect occurs, this poses a risk of serious injury to the user and bystanders.
What consumers should do
Immediately stop using your machine. Contact STIHL Customer Service Hotline(toll free in Australia on 1300 366 665 or email hsaexchange@stihl.com.au with your model number and serial number (see diagram below). STIHL will arrange for you to be given a new STIHL battery hedge trimmer (Model HSA-86) as a replacement, by an authorised STIHL dealer.
