Reason the product is recalled

For these two particular model numbers, KONI has discovered that there may have been instances of misalignment of the welding torch during assembly. If this occurred during production, the rod end eye attachment may fail.

The hazards to consumers

If there are misaligned/fragile welds, the shock absorber could fail. This could cause the affected vehicle to lose its load-carrying abilities, thereby potentially resulting in loss of vehicle control and a motor vehicle accident.

What consumers should do

Consumers should immediately inspect their shock absorbers to determine whether they are marked with the affected batch numbers. Consumers should not drive the vehicle until replacement shock absorbers have been supplied and fitted. Refer to the attached instructions in KONI's Recall Letter to Affected Consumers for further information.
