The batteries may overheat causing damage to the computer and, if the overheated battery comes into contact with combustible material, posing a fire hazard.

Apple will contact all PowerBook customers whose details it has in order to advise them of the recall and make arrangements to provide those customers who have an affected battery unit with a replacement battery.
