Reason the product is recalled
A small number of diodes used in the affected batches are faulty.
The hazards to consumers
When the faulty diodes fail, they may damage the circuit board (a few may also burn the double insulation). This could make the lamps unsafe if someone handles them while attempting to replace them with the electricity switched on.
What consumers should do
This product was only sold to schools in Queensland. ESL Australia Pty Ltd will organise for the lights to be replaced. Users are warned to turn the lights off before replacing them.
