Reason the product is recalled
A vacuum forms inside the cookware when lid is left on pot for periods of time (1-2h) after finishing the cooking process. If a vacuum forms after 1-2 hours this can create a 'pull' effect, causing the glass lid to break or shatter.
The hazards to consumers
If the food is cooked and left unattended for period of 1-2 hours the glass lid may break and shatter. This may pose a laceration hazard to consumers.
What consumers should do
Remove the lid from the pot after finishing the cooking process. Alternatively, the customer can simply remove and loosely lay the lid back on top, leaving an open space between the lid and pot. Updated instructions are available from the website. Testing has shown that these steps eliminate the possibility of the hazard occurring.
