Reason the product is recalled

A component of the tyre sealant in the batch number has exceeded its shelf life and as a result this batch of the product is defective. The batch has had a number of its binding gums break down and as a result this batch will not work as specified and may no longer seal punctures.

What consumers should do

As a safety precaution, drivers of vehicles with the defective product should ensure they remain below a speed of 80 km/hr to ensure the minimisation of vibration, until such time as the product has ben replaced. Protex will notify in writing or by telephone each affected customer. Any customer with concerns should telephone Protex on 1300 776 839 to confirm if they have been affected. A time will be scheduled for all affected customers to remove the defective product using the mobile service at the customer's home or place of work. Once the defective product has been removed from their tyres, the installers will replace it with new Protex Tyre Sealant.
