COVID-19: Takata compulsory and NADI 5-AT recalls

Published

The ACCC is highly conscious of the impact COVID-19 is having on Australian consumers and businesses. The ACCC will always prioritise our Product Safety responsibilities to keep Australians safe.

At a time where many people are ceasing to use public transport in favour of private vehicles, drivers are reminded that it is essential to check whether your vehicle is subject to the Takata compulsory recall or voluntary Takata NADI 5-AT recall due to dangerous Takata airbags. You can check this on the Product Safety Australia website.

You can also search for vehicles affected by the Takata compulsory recall by entering your number plate and state or territory at: IsMyAirbagSafe.com.au or by texting 'Takata' to 0487 AIRBAG (247224).

We understand dealerships are still operating and offering the services outlined in recall notifications for consumers affected by the compulsory and voluntary recalls. The ACCC and the Department of Infrastructure are closely monitoring any changes to these arrangements.

We encourage consumers to check information provided by their vehicle manufacturer for the latest updates to take action in relation to the recalls.

A list of vehicle manufacturer helplines and contact details is available at: Vehicle manufacturer helplines & contact details.
