Serial numbers for the Battery Packs are: Apple 12-inch iBookG4 (Battery model number A1061) Serial number range ZZ338-ZZ427, 3K429-3K611, 6CS19-6C552 ending with S9WA, S9WC or S9WD. Apple 12-inch Aluminium PowerBook G4 (Battery model number A1079) Serial number range ZZ411-ZZ427, 3K428-3K611. Apple 15-inch Aluminium PowerBook G4 (Battery model number A1078 and A1148) Serial number range 3K425-3K601, 6N530-6N551 ending with THTA, THTB or THTC, 6N601 ending with THTC.
Reasons the product is recalled
A defect in the manufacturing process can cause the Battery Packs to short circuit internally, leading to extreme heat and/or flaming combustion.

What consumers should do
Consumers should stop using the Battery Packs immediately and return the effected Battery Packs to their nearest Apple authorised service provider (ASP) in exchange for a free replacement Battery Pack. If consumers are unsure whether their Battery Pack is subject to this recall or the location of their nearest ASP, they should vist http://support.apple.com/batteryprogram/ and enter the serial number of their Battery Pack and the country in which they are located. Customers will then be immediately advised whether or not their Battery Pack is subject to this recall and if it is, provided with the addresses of the ASPs in that country. Consumers who are unable to take the Battery Pack to an ASP should contact Apple on 133 622 for further information in relation to the exchange.
