What are the defects?
The Tablet battery pack may overheat as the cells contain contaminated materials.
What are the hazards?
There is a risk that the Tablet battery pack may overheat and cause smoke or may ignite posing the risk of a fire hazard to the FZ-G1 Tablet.
What should consumers do?
Firstly, consumers should remove the battery pack and use with the unit plugged into a power source. If using the tablet in the field, consumers should go to www.panasonic.com.au/fzg1productissue to download a BIOS utility upgrade from Panasonic that will allow a safer use of the battery pack.
Panasonic will be in contact with customers directly and via its website with the final actions and next steps which will be to replace the battery pack or other components.
