Recalls

The ACCC has published updated guidelines to assist suppliers when they need to recall a product for safety reasons.

The guidelines also inform suppliers of their Australian Consumer Law obligations and the ACCC’s role in assessing, monitoring and escalating recalls. 

A proposed recall notice has been issued in addition to the safety warning notice which warns consumers of fire risks with recalled LG solar lithium-ion batteries. This is a formal step towards a compulsory recall, and highlights the serious risk posed. The batteries are installed in solar energy systems across the country.

Furniture suppliers will be required to provide safety warnings to consumers about the dangers of toppling furniture hazards, after the Assistant Treasurer made a new information standard for toppling furniture.
